A bar manager typically oversees the employees, customers and the safety of the premises by ensuring responsible beverage service (RBS) and proper glassware sanitization. Bar managers also handle the administrative, financial and compliance tasks involved with running the business, including handling liquor licensing.
Common duties include:
•Recruiting, hiring, training and managing employees
•Makingto ensure adequate coverage
•Resolving conflicts and supporting a positive customer experience
•Ensuring employees adhere to local, state and federal regulations for alcohol service, safety and food handling
•Monitoring daily operations, including cash handling and restocking
•Ordering alcohol, food and supplies and building vendor relationships
•Creating and maintaining ansystem
•Overseeing marketing and promotional activities
•Preparing payroll and maintaining employee records
•Managing the budget and financial documentation
